Cyberspace

I used to love reading science fiction in the seventies, then lost interest in the genre, but got completely hooked again in the early nineties (or was it already in the 80’s?) when I discovered cyberspace. I loved the Mona Lisa Trilogy by William Gibson, but also Eon/Eternity by Greg Bear, and several other cyberspace novels. But there was not enough (interesting) cyberspace-literature to satisfy my hunger and after I while I gave up searching for it. Last week I bought a pile of recent scifi-novels on a flea-market. So far I have not finished any of the six books that I began reading. What happened to sci fiction?! Or is it me who changed? Or am I simply missing the good books?!
Or has reality overtaken science fiction? The lives of people like Terence McKenna and Kevin Mitnick certainly excite me more than the science fiction books that are on my desk at this moment.
