The Ledge

Tuesday, 28 November 2006

One of the best concerts i visited in the eighties was one by The Legendary Stardust Cowboy. I first heard him singing (or someting like that) on the compilation LP Rockabilly Psychosis, which i bought for the track Love me by The Phantom, but that is another story. Nobody seemed to know this incredible record, or even if it wàs a record, and neither who the singer was. But I was definitely not the only person to be flabbergasted by this guy, because some people traced him and within a few months an LP was released. And another few months later he was on stage in the Amsterdam Paradiso, with happy me in a crowd of fans. I will not tell you what happened that night, but it was very much like this video.

Later i learned that when David Bowie saw this show on television (in 1968, mind you!), he changed his name in Ziggy Stardust. Long live The Ledge! (He died a few years ago.
