The idea of the movements was to get divert one’s attention. By focusing attention on difficult tasks, the mind had to work with functions that it normally tries to avoid, creating an opening in the mind for something else to come in: insight in the illusionary nature of every thing that we perceive, including our personality/mind/ego/orwhateveryoucallit.
