Augmented reality

Erk Willemsen pointed me out to some videos that deal with ”augmented reality”. I cannot remember having heard this term, but I have seen some of the implications of this technology. But I never really understood what it is all about until last night. One site explains it by saying that it allows you to add virtual 3D-content to your real environment - even more - to interact with this 3D-content in your personal space. To me it seems one step forward to blending ordinary reality with virtual reality.

I know that for some people this will be old news, but I am always amazed to see how science fiction technology becomes real within shorter and shorter time spans. I cannot help thinking that we are building a Matrix without realizing it. And whenever that thought enters my mind, I am flooded with ideas and fantasies about all this stuff.
